(Re)Useful Art Exhibition

Sawtooth School for Visual Art and The Art SHAC have teamed up to exhibit original artworks by 40 regional creatives on the theme of creative reuse.

The organizations launched an open call to artists, asking them to challenge the traditional notions of art-making and repurpose materials to craft a unique piece of art. And oh boy, did they deliver! We hope you enjoy the breadth of ideas and execution in these artworks, ponder the artists’ process and materials, and in turn, be inspired to join the sustainability movement.

The Art SHAC serves as Winston-Salem’s creative reuse center, offering affordable, gently used art materials for sale, community outreach, and classes while diverting thousands of pounds of material from the landfill.

To purchase an artwork from the exhibition, visit the Sawtooth School for Visual Art front desk. While we all know the pieces are enticing, please do not touch the artworks.

Before you leave, vote for your favorite! The piece with the most votes at the end of the exhibition wins the People’s Choice Award, a Sawtooth Membership, and a $25 gift card to The Art SHAC. Each person may vote one time.

This exhibition will be on display in Sawtooth’s Redding Corridor Gallery from May 27–August 2, 2025. Join us for a reception on Thursday, June 26, from 6-8 pm and celebrate with these talented creatives!
