ART FOR ALL

Our mission at Sawtooth is to provide quality art instruction to a diverse student body. We believe financial circumstances should not be a barrier between students and their art.

Please review how Sawtooth students can hone their craft even if current financial circumstances prevent them from paying full tuition rates. Options include scholarships, standby discounts for educators and students, discounts for artists and art partners, volunteer, and work-trade opportunities.

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS

TO APPLY

Individuals and Families seeking financial assistance for eligible classes and workshops are encouraged to apply for a scholarship. All applications must be accompanied with proof of income which includes two current pay stubs and the current year’s W2 or Tax Return.

Scholarships and discounts are granted based on the availability of funds and the number of requests filled. As a result, these guidelines may be subject to modification and revision.

You may also mail or personally deliver the completed forms to Sawtooth School for Visual Art at 251 North Spruce Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.

ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE

STANDBY DISCOUNT FOR EDUCATORS + COLLEGE STUDENTS

Full-time educators, college students, and their children can be placed on a standby list and awarded half-off the current class price when classes have additional seats that need filling. Those placed on the standby list will be notified of available space in eligible classes and workshops one week in advance of the start date. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

ART PARTNERS

Employees of art organizations of Forsyth County are encouraged to request a 20% discount on eligible classes and workshops for a one-year period simply by contacting our registration desk from your work email address. Provide your name and current contact information, including your best phone number and email address.

WORK-TRADE

Adults interested in working closely with a specific studio/department can receive discounts on eligible classes and workshops for participating in a work-trade program. For more information, please contact the Studio Director of your desired medium. For a list of departments, you may refer to the “Studios” page on our website. Work-trade placement is limited, and hours will be determined individually based on the program’s needs and availability.
