Class Image Taking Portraits of Strangers

Taking Portraits of Strangers

A photograph can be a passport into other worlds, people, and experiences. In this workshop we will learn to overcome our fears and apprehensions to 'other worlds' by approaching, convincing, and ultimately photographing, complete strangers. Led by C. Stephen Hurst, Sawtooth's Director of Photography, students will collaboratively practice tips and strategies on the streets of Downtown Winston Salem to quickly and positively interact with pedestrians and passerbys. Easy to remember mantras of composition and exposure will be practiced extensively. Weekly homework assignments touching on motivations, experiences, and subject interaction will allow for lively discussions and positive critique throughout the 4-week class. Extend beyond your comfort zone as a photographer and take this exciting new class!

Open to students of all levels. Ages 15 and up
