Art of the Ancients | Ceramics 4 | PM Ages 9-11

Students will create replicas of ancient pottery vessels unearthed from Latin American countries and learn techniques used in an art form that has remained relatively unchanged for centuries. After all, what were the first water bottles made of? Clay, of course! Students will make their own stirrup handle water bottle, a storytelling vessel, and a bowl for daily burnishing. They will also craft a handmade brush to paint color slips, employ printing tools and burnish their vessels, exploring a variety of embellishment techniques as they decorate and personalize their pieces.

Projects will be fired by professionals and parents will be notified when their child's art is available for pickup roughly two or three weeks after the end of class.
