Antique License Plate Lid Box
Learn the art of box making! This project will have you using just about every machine in the wood shop from the band saw to the table saw, while you create a finely crafted box with the fun addition of an antique license plate for the lid! The final product will be roughly the size of a shoe box, perfect for storing your tools or treasures. Class will cover cutting splined miter joinery, dados for capturing the base and lid in place, and creating a smooth fit for your lid. Through this simple form, learn and practice shop safety, fundamental joinery techniques, and more. Some experience is helpful, but not required. Students are welcome to bring their own sentimental plate or use an antique one provided by the instructor.
