Making Useful Utensils

Learn to make your own utensils! Starting with a block of wood, you'll learn to draw out your pattern, cut it out and refine it with hand tools. Students will learn to safely and confidently use the bandsaw to cut contours and then to patiently shape and smooth their designs with files, rifflers, gouges, and abrasives. Students will have the opportunity to try different wood species, practice free form bandsaw cutting techniques, and apply a food safe finish to the final form. A suggested pattern will be available, but you are welcome and encouraged to follow your own unique design! All skill levels are welcome.
