B Lapidary - Cabochon

A cabochon is a gemstone which has been shaped and polished as opposed to faceted. Learn the basics creating cabochons including stone selection, proper use of a trim saw, dopping, and grinding/polishing on a cabbing machine. Class size limited to 4 students, each having their own machine to use. Begin with oval and work toward freeform styles. You’ll create one or more finished cabochons and learn how to use, care for and clean the equipment, and discuss some options for using your creations in jewelry, such as wire wrapping and bezel setting. This will be a great course to repeat. Basic materials included in the fee.
