Camp PMC Course 101
Join the ever-fun and extremely-talented metal clay artist Michael Marx for this three-day, 19+ hour Precious Metal Clay (PMC) Certification course. (Friday, 5-8:30PM, Sat./Sun. 9AM-5PM) Learn all the fundamental skills required to work with metal clays and be successful with all PMC products. Practice fundamental techniques including rolling, texturing, cutting, carving, sculpting, molding, refining, firing, and polishing, all while creating beautiful jewelry pieces that show off your skills. You'll discuss firing processes and everyone will practice torch firing along with kiln firing. You'll make 5 projects including a pair of earrings with a fireable stone, a double textured pendant with syringe detail, wrapped beads, a sculpted toggle clasp, and a wrapped ring with a fireable stone. The class will utilize PMC3, PMC Flex, and PMC OneFire 950 clays to ensure each student learns the appropriate usage of each type of clay.
Upon successful completion of projects and lecture time, students will take a short written test. Upon passing, each student will receive a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION from the Sawtooth School for Visual Art (Provided by the Instructor) and an 8% discount on all PMC clays at Clay Revolution and Rio Grande Jewelry Supply.
Tuition: $300 ($270/Sawtooth School members)
Materials Fee: $250 payable at the workshop to the instructor
Kit fee is payable at the time of class. It includes a printed course manual, 20g of PMC3; 25g of PMC OneFire 950; 5g of PMC Flex and a 9g PMC3 Syringe, CZs and findings needed to complete the projects and all finishing consumables. All standard studio consumables such as texture release spray, liver of sulfur, etc. will also be provided.
