Bridging the Gap: Combining Wheel Throwing and Slab Building

Join us for an exciting weekend-long hands on workshop with Amanda Bury!

Explore how to use the potter's wheel as a tool for creating composite forms. Learn techniques for combining thrown and slab built parts. Put these new techniques to use to make a lidded jar and a basket. Those comfortable with the wheel will expand formal possibilities by using slabs and hand-built elements. Those more familiar with handbuilding will see how the wheel can be used as a tool to create parts and pieces to build with.

Participants must have intermediate centering and throwing skills and general knowledge of stages of clay dryness and how to attach parts securely.
