Sawtooth is Reopening on July 6
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sawtooth temporarily closed its doors on March 16. We are slowly reopening starting on July 6, with a smaller staff and programming, in hopes that we can gradually increase programming as the community and government signal it is safe to do so.
We are communicating with other community art schools, organizations and NC Department of Health and Human Resources to establish protocols and guidelines for your safety. Safety is our priority as we move forward.
Our current class offerings are now live on our website. We will begin with a selection of our 2020 Spring Session classes (where we left off when we closed temporarily) and we plan to offer all of them in the coming months. If you are registered for the Spring Session and one of your classes is being offered, you will be contacted by the Program Director. If you do not feel comfortable returning at this time, we will hold a credit for you to take the same class at a later date or another of your choosing. If your Spring Session class is not listed, it will be offered in the coming year. Credits are good for two years.
We are also busy behind the scenes preparing for more online classes in the coming months. As well as, open studio options, ceramic firings and clay sales.
Our safety protocols include:
1) Abiding by state and CDC guidelines for reopening, including mandatory training for all Sawtooth employees returning to work; 2) Temperature and symptom check required by staff each day; 3) Wearing cloth face coverings; 4) Daily cleaning and sanitizing schedule for common areas, studios, and tools; 5) Increasing physical space in classrooms, and planning classes with 6ft distance between students; 6) Offering several online classes for instructors and students who do not feel comfortable returning to the studio environment currently; 7) Hand sanitizer available throughout Sawtooth; 8) Sawtooth will be closed to the public, only registered students will be allowed in the building during scheduled class or open studio hours; 9) Students and instructors will be health screened before attending classes.
Thank you for your patience and support during these uncertain times. We look forward to seeing each of you in our studios finding that sweet spot called “artist’s flow.” It is truly a place of healing. Stay safe and be well!
