Our Youth Program is designed to enrich art experiences in the schools and at home with a wide range of classes, all small enough for personalized attention. Our aim is to improve the student's visual skills while introducing continuing challenges and new techniques. Contact youngart@sawtooth.org

Sawtooth's Newest Youth Program - Sawtooth Sundaes

8873. Sawtooth Sundaes (K - 5th Grade)
Instructor Du Jour
We will warm up with an exciting art project and cool down with a tasty ice cream sundae! The first ninety minutes will be dedicated to a creative and fun art project. After you are finished, you will be able to design your own ice cream sundae and enjoy it while looking at the art you have created. Bring some friends and have a great Sundae afternoon!

821. Art for Two
Instructor Anna Olivia Sisk
This class is a great time for both child and caregiver to explore arts and crafts with a little gentle guidance. Basic art principles will be introduced through painting and clay projects. Price includes child and caregiver. Class limited to eight students, so sign up early!

This class is a wonderful introduction to new and exciting art materials! Stretch the imagination and explore a variety of media in a relaxed, fun environment. Attention will be given to developing new techniques and creativity while working with paint, oil pastel, paper and more!

If your child loves to make a mess, they will love this class.
We will introduce a different painting medium each week and create colorful projects. We will not only use brushes of all sizes but also our fingers! Come prepared to have fun!

808. Creating with Clay
Instructor Erin Donald
Clay is a fun, squishy medium with many artistic and functional possibilities. This class is your chance to learn all about it while having fun! Children will be taught the basics of clay fabrication and a little about the history of its discovery and use. At the end of our sessions, we will glaze and fire our amazing creations!

Students will learn basic hand and machine sewing techniques. We will be creating stuffed animals, puppets and pillows. Bring your favorite old t-shirt to class and make it into a pillow that you can keep for years to come!

842. Animation

Make your drawings come to life Ð learn how to animate! Students will become acquainted with the basics of animation, and get lots of hands-on practice as they explore a variety of animation techniques. At the conclusion of the course, each student will get a video copy of the animation they create. This class is suitable for new and continuing animation students. Space is limited so sign up early!

Clay is just another name for fun, and this class is made for the 3rd-5th grader who loves the idea of sculpting fantasy creatures, flying animals, or just playing with the possibilities of clay. Mud has never been so cool!

Dog, cat, hamster, bird or fish! Students should bring a picture of their favorite pet (or a picture from the internet or a magazine) to create an expressive and colorful pet portrait.

8820. From Junky to Funky - 3rd - 8th Grade

Clean out your junk! Join us as we create a funky piece of art with the junk you have around the house. We will supply some junk but we would like for you to bring a few things of your own. Please bring a grocery bag full of junk such as; recyclables, small appliances, etc. These things will be used to create your own funky, junky masterpiece.

Let our 60 years of experience in the arts, and our wonderful instructors, put together the most memorable party of the year for you. Birthdays, showers, adults, youth: we can arrange a party to suit your needs.

1) An advance notice of at least 2 weeks is required to schedule a party.

2) A $100 deposit is due at the time of scheduling; $50 is refundable if the party is cancelled at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled date; $18 per child fee.

3) Parent/child parties are requested for children between the ages of 4-6.

Cub, Boy and Girl Scout Badges

Earn your art-related scout badges at the Sawtooth Center. We offer two and three hour workshops for all scout age groups. Call 723-7395, to arrange a time and date for your scout badge workshop. Ten scouts minimum per workshop.
