Sawtooth School for Visual Art will host a special exhibition and sale of works by artists from the Enrichment Center during the annual Deck the Halls sale on December 14 from 10 AM to 4 PM. The Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble will entertain shoppers and guests that afternoon from 1 to 3 PM. Deck the Halls is free and open to the public.
“We are so excited to feature our friends from the Enrichment Center during Deck the Halls,” said Sawtooth Executive Director JoAnne Vernon. “In addition to the ‘pop-up’ show and sale on the 14th, five very talented artists from the Enrichment Center were juried in to submit work for the entire run of Deck the Halls, from December 6 – 21. Adam LaFevre , Jonathan Lindsay and Michelle Zeller are painters, Corey Williams creates digital art and Meredith Lamy makes beautiful quilts.”
The Enrichment Center is an arts-based, not-for-profit organization that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and caregivers. The Center’s artists are known collectively as the Artists of Gateway studios. In a professional studio setting, these artists create fresh, exciting and original paintings, digital photographs, ceramics and a variety of multi-media pieces. The process of expressing themselves through their art changes not only their lives, but also the lives of others. As a result, the artists learn to communicate in ways they never before imagined.
For over fifteen years, the Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble has performed across North Carolina, north to New York, and collaborated with a wide range of musicians, actors, dancers, and filmmakers, challenging audience expectations everywhere they go.
