National Black Theatre Hall of Fame and Museum Preview Exhibit and Steve McCarthy – The Art of Resistance: Explorations in Pastel and Acrylic

National Black Theatre Hall of Fame and Museum Preview Exhibit and Steve McCarthy – The Art of Resistance: Explorations in Pastel and Acrylic will be on view from August 1–25 and August 4–25 respectively. Opening receptions for both exhibits will be held on Friday, August 4 from 5:00–7:00 PM.

National Black Theatre Hall of Fame and Museum Preview Exhibit showcases images, video, and installation pieces to showcase the history and significance of the National Black Theatre Festival.

Steve McCarthy – The Art of Resistance: Explorations in Pastel and Acrylic explores a variety of subjects ranging from natural imagery to pop iconography with the use of oil pastel, overlaid with acrylic latex paint. Color and shape actuate these stylized images while subtle textures and pattern emerge, often surprising the viewer.

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Sawtooth is located upstairs in the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts at 251 N. Spruce Street. For more information, visit sawtooth.org or call 336.723.7395.
