Vision Statement
The Sawtooth Center for Visual
Art will be recognized locally, regionally and nationally as an arts
education resource renown for its cross-cultural, interdisciplinary curriculum
that integrates studio techniques, art history, and critical studies through
hands-on instruction, and for developing participants' visual, cognitive
and critical thinking skills, aesthetic and technical capacities, self
and cross-cultural understanding.

Quality of Life That
quality of life is enhanced through artistic expression and an appreciation
of art, and that the health and stability of the Piedmont Triad?s many
communities and its peoples are improved by developing its residents visual,
cognitive and critical thinking skills as well as aesthetic, and technical
capacities. Residents are chosen irrespective of age, socioeconomic,
cultural or physical abilities.
Quality of Instruction
That excellence in instruction and top-quality programs and forums for
creative exchange and hands-on learning are facilitated through well-equipped
and maintained work spaces, diverse venues and nurturing environments that
are conducive to furthering the skills and creativity of artist-faculty
and life-long learners of all skill levels.
Cross-Cultural Understanding and
Pluralism That respect for the cultural, artistic and technical
contributions of multiple communities are vital components of art education
that leads to deeper understandings of democracy and richer learning experiences.
