Sawtooth School has scheduled nine different Taste of Art classes for the second half of the spring quarter. This popular series of laid-back classes offers a small sampling of different art forms to give participants a “taste” of the various media and disciplines offered at Sawtooth. Participants are invited to bring a bottle of wine or anything else they’d like to enjoy while making a piece of art. Instructors explain and assist with each step of the creative process in these 2 to 2.5 hour sessions, so no previous experience is required.
Classes scheduled for Friday, May 16, include Stained Glass Collages, Digital Scrapbooking, Silk Scarf Dying, Still Life Acrylic Painting and Zentangle Drawing. Sterling Silver Circle Pendants will be offered in the Metals studio on Thursday, May 22, followed by Ceramic Vases on Friday, May 23. Fused Glass Suncatchers is scheduled for Friday, May 30, and the final Taste of Art in the spring quarter will be Ceramic Candle Lanterns on Friday, June 6. Pre-registration is required since many of these sessions fill up quickly. The cost is $35 for all Taste of Art classes except Ceramics, which is $40. Registration is available at www.sawtooth.org/classes, or by phone at 336-723-7395, ext. 201.
“Our Taste of Art classes are as much social as they are creative,” said Sawtooth Executive Director JoAnne Vernon. “Groups come in with wine and snacks to celebrate birthdays or other special occasions, or for a girls or guys night out. Couples come in for date night, and individuals bring friends with them to Taste of Art, or they come to make a friend. It’s all about exploring art and creativity in a fun, engaging atmosphere.”
