The Drawing and Painting Program offers classes appropriate for every level of experience. Courses are designed
to improve visual skills in a wide variety of media. Students should have
some drawing experience before taking painting courses. The Graphics classes

420. I Can’t Draw, Yes I Can!
This class is for the person who has never learned drawing techniques or who believes that only a gifted person can draw. You will enjoy this introduction to drawing skills and learn a new way of seeing. Find out that you can! This is a good first class to take in preparation for painting or other media. Supply list.

424. Live Figure Drawing

Understanding the structure of the human body is essential to good figurative art. This class will work with a variety of models, some nude, that will do warm-up and longer poses. Bring materials to first class along with an 18" X 24" newsprint pad, vine charcoals and kneaded eraser. Figure drawing experience is preferred. Model fees included.

428. Portrait Sketching

This is a portrait-sketching class to accustom people to drawing each other in a drawing circle or other public venues like cafes or markets. Utilizing a sketchbook and technical pens or drawing implement of choice, we will emphasize the value of weekly practice, working from real people instead of photographs, and drawing from models who don't always hold still, yet still drawing what one actually sees.

4473. Pen and Ink Possibilities

This workshop will show you different types of line and shading techniques that are the basics for most ink drawings. Scribbling, stippling, cross-hatching and effective line work are a few topics we will explore. These techniques can be used on their own or can be combined in a single drawing.

448. Exploring Oils & Acrylics

Focus on classical and academic methods of making a painting. Drawing skills, understanding values, color and the process of applying paints to a surface is emphasized. 458. Water, Paint, Splash

From the Italian Guazzo, gouache is a water-based paint, like watercolor, except it is opaque, rich in color, and has a flat finish. It is wonderful for 'plein air' painters and quick lush sketches. In this class, we explore materials and methods used in gouache painting; including dry and wet paper techniques. One step at a time, you will be equipped to understand how well gouache can work for you.

It’s creativity in motion! Watch as your animation ideas come to life in this introductory workshop. You will learn traditional and experimental animation techniques: hand-drawn and cut-out paper characters, clay-mation and other abstract image approaches to animation. We will also cover strategies for importing your work to a PC for additional digital manipulation and editing. Bring a bag lunch.

Add a taste of art to your life. Bring your favorite bottle of wine to this low-key class. It’s a great opportunity for anyone wanting to enjoy the thrill of creativity and the company of good friends.
Follow the stroke-by-stroke instructions or tap into your wild, avant-garde side. It is completely up to you. Have a good time and some good wine. Make some new friends as you paint and at the end of the night you take home your masterpiece.
All supplies included. No experience necessary. Class space limited to 20 people per night.
Don't forget that you can reserve space for a birthday, special occasion or if you just want to have fun with a group of
