Artist of the Year

SUPPORT THE SAWTOOTH SCHOLARSHIP FUND BY PURCHASING A PIECE OF HISTORY!

Sawtooth School for Visual Art started “Artist of the Year” as an annual recognition program in 1987, and the program continued through 2006.  The artists selected exemplified artistic excellence in their work, and also made significant contributions to the Sawtooth School and to Winston-Salem’s larger cultural life.  The highly competitive selection process included a review panel made up of artists, art administrators and supporters, and city government representatives.

A catalog of the artist’s work was produced each year, along with limited editions of each artist’s signature piece to sell during the year. The few remaining pieces from this impressive collection, carefully preserved in the Sawtooth archives, are now being offered for sale to the general public. The proceeds from all sales will benefit the Sawtooth’s Scholarship Fund to help make art accessible to those with limited financial means. Special thanks to Hampton House Art & Framing for helping us to frame our Artist of the Year Prints for Sawtooth’s archives.
