Making Primitive Weapons - Selfbow
Some of the oldest primitive weapons discovered have been Neolithic wood bows. A selfbow is made from a single piece of wood without lamination. Master Bowyer Dane Snodgrass will introduce the hand tools and techniques needed to craft such an historic weapon. Class time will be split among tool technique, demonstrations of methods, skill building, discussions on materials, and homework review. Students will have the opportunity to build their own selfbow as the "homework" project. This fundamentals course is considered the first in a sequential skill building program. Students will purchase/provide some materials and tools, discussed at the first class session.
