Penland Workshops
Hammer in a Day!
Put down those commercial tools – we’re metalsmiths and we can make our own! In this workshop we will make a small riveting hammer while we learn the remarkable properties that make steel so useful. Starting from fresh stock, we'll learn shaping, decorative filing, hardening and tempering, polishing, and handling of our hammers. You will leave with a very handy little hammer, but also with the knowledge you will need to make your own scribes, chasing tools, touchmarks, etc. Fee includes all materials.
