Intermediate Silk Painting (317)

Learn how to create beautiful silk scarves and fabric. Painting on silk requires no formal painting instruction. The high quality French dyes move magically on the canvas of silk creating beautiful colors and designs. Learn how to stretch silk on a frame and how to apply dyes with watercolor brushes. Various techniques will be explored like wet on wet, wet on dry silk, watercolor, alcohol and salt. In addition, we will explore "faux batik" techniques which layer soy wax and dyes on fabric to create multi-layered designs. Complete a sampler of techniques and several scarves. A $75 supply fee is included in the cost of the class. Beginners welcome. Repeat students will be taught new techniques and go beyond previously learned skills.
