Tapestry is an ancient form of weaving that has been practiced by diverse cultures around the world to make wall hangings as well as functional articles such as rugs, blankets, canopies. It is a weft-faced weave, meaning that the weft, or horizontal threads, completely cover the warp, or vertical threads, and pictures or designs are made by building up areas of different colored wefts, often based on a drawing or cartoon. You will learn several different methods of juxtaposing colors and then design and weave a small tapestry incorporating those techniques.
