The Sawtooth School for Visual Art recently hired Amy Jordan Kincaid to fill the open position of Painting & Drawing Coordinator, and Taylor Hayes to fill the newly created position of Digital Media and Special Projects Coordinator.
Kincaid, a Winston-Salem native, will be responsible for developing the curriculum for painting and drawing and other 2-dimensional art classes at the school as well as teaching and managing that department’s adjunct faculty. A graduate of Salem College with a B.A. in Studio Art with a concentration in painting, Kincaid comes into the position with a broad base of arts instruction and management experience. She replaces Travis Phillips, who left the Sawtooth with plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Fine Arts.
Hayes, a native of Roanoke, VA, earned her B.A. from Salem College in Arts and Not-for-Profit Management, and in Studio Art. In this newly created role she will manage the school’s digital and social media initiatives and develop and manage other programs on an ad-hoc basis. She will also assist with the school’s summer camps and youth programs.
“We were fortunate to have a large pool of very talented and capable applicants for these positions,” said Executive Director JoAnne Vernon. “Amy and Taylor stood out due to their history and experience at the Sawtooth. Both have been with us as interns for the last year, so they have a good working knowledge of our programs and opportunities. In fact, Amy actually started her arts education right here at the Sawtooth a number of years ago in the Summer Art Honors program while she was a student in the Forsyth County school system, so she has truly come full circle.” this newly created role she will manage the school’s digital and social media initiatives and develop and manage other programs on an ad-hoc basis.
