Supply List

Paper:  Arches white, cold pressed paper, 140 lb., in sheets ( 22 “ x 30”)  or in block form  10” x 14” (small)  or 12” x 16“ (medium).  Block is preferred because it does not buckle when wet and supports itself..

Paint:  Good grade paint like DaVinci or Holbein in 15 ml. tubes.  These can be purchased on line or at a local art supply store.  To begin, I suggest 1 warm and 1 cool of each primary color, red, blue and yellow.   Alizarin red and permanent or cadmium red, cobalt blue and ultramarine blue, lemon yellow and cadmium yellow.  Then add: hooker’s green, permanent or light green, burnt sienna, raw sienna yellow ochre, payne’s grey and permanent magenta or violet.  White or black are optional.

Brushes: Starter sets may be purchased online or in local art stores.  If buying separately, choose two flats ( 1” & ½” wide), 2 medium rounds ( in the 8-12 range), and one small detail brush  (in the 4-6) range.  Sable hair is best, but, synthetic brushes are a good value.

Waterproof Support: such as Gator board, masonite, or light wood board  ( 16”x 24”) and white artist tape or masking tape if you bring paper in loose sheets.

Palette:  rectangular plastic with enough separators for paints and lid to keep out dust.

Water containers:  One large (1 qt.) and several small  ( jello cup size).

Paper towels: soft, white roll.

Sketch pad: plastic mechanical lead pencil or regular pencil # 2 , kneaded eraser, 12” ruler
